What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information across pages or visits, and to ensure that core technical functions work correctly.
Cookies are not programs and cannot execute code on your device. They may be session cookies — deleted automatically when you close your browser — or persistent cookies, which remain for a defined period. Cookies set directly by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies; those set by external services are third-party cookies.
Cookies we use
SAKUGAART is an editorial publication. It carries no advertising and does not monetise visitor data. The only cookies present on this site are those generated automatically by WordPress, the content management system on which the site runs, and by the web server for basic security purposes.
These cookies fall into three functional categories:
Security — protects form submissions (such as the contact form) against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). These tokens are generated per request and discarded immediately after use.
Authentication — if you access a password-protected area, a temporary cookie keeps you authenticated for the duration of your session. This applies only to registered users or administrators.
None of these cookies contain personal identifiers such as your name or email address. None are shared with third parties. None persist beyond your browsing session, except where noted in the reference table below.
Cookie reference table
The following table lists the cookies that may be set when browsing SAKUGAART. All are first-party cookies generated by WordPress or the server.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| wordpress_sec_* | Security token — protects authenticated sessions against hijacking. Set only if logged in. | Session | Essential |
| wordpress_logged_in_* | Authentication — confirms that a user is logged in and which user they are. Applies to administrators only. | Session | Essential |
| wp-settings-* | User interface preferences within the WordPress dashboard (admin area only). Not set for regular visitors. | 1 year | Essential |
| wordpress_test_cookie | Checks whether the browser accepts cookies before login. Discarded immediately after the check. | Session | Essential |
| PHPSESSID | Standard PHP session identifier. Maintains session state on the server side. | Session | Essential |
This list reflects the current configuration of the site. It may be updated if the site's technical setup changes. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
Third-party cookies
SAKUGAART does not embed advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or third-party analytics services. No external party deposits cookies on your device through the standard browsing of this site.
Google Fonts is used to load typefaces (Cormorant Garamond, Shippori Mincho, DM Mono). Requests to Google's font servers may result in your IP address being transmitted to Google in order to serve the font files. This is a network request, not a cookie. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
If future content includes embedded third-party media (such as video players), those services may set their own cookies. In such cases, a notice will be added to this section and, where required by law, your consent will be sought before the embed is activated.
Your rights and controls
Under European data protection law (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies — those without which the site cannot function — do not require prior consent. All cookies used by SAKUGAART fall into this category. No consent banner is therefore displayed, as none is legally required.
You retain the right to control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. The following options are available in most browsers:
- Block all cookies (note: this may affect the display or basic functionality of SAKUGAART and other sites).
- Delete existing cookies stored by this or any other site.
- Block third-party cookies specifically, while allowing first-party cookies.
- Be notified each time a cookie is set and choose whether to accept it.
Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser. Refer to your browser's help documentation for specific guidance:
